The Green Tree: An actor committed to the UN’s sustainable development goals
The Green Tree

In a world where environmental and social challenges are becoming increasingly pressing, it is essential that every organization takes part in the collective effort for a sustainable future. The Green Tree, as a Swiss circular economy cooperative dedicated to sustainable development, is actively engaged in the approach of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations.

Our actions are guided by a vision of the future where sustainability and prosperity go hand in hand. Our cooperative aligns with 6 of these United Nations-established Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), testifying to our commitment to contributing to a better world.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

It aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. Clean energy and the fight against climate change are inherently linked. By promoting tree planting, we support the production of renewable biomass, thus contributing to the goal of clean energy. Indeed, our plantations are not only carbon sinks; they are also the promise of green energy for the future (wood heating, insulating material).

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

We are committed to creating fair and sustainable jobs in the sustainable forestry sector. By investing in the local workforce and ensuring fair working conditions, we contribute to economic growth while respecting the principles of decent work.

Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Our plantations play a crucial role in improving urban air quality and creating green spaces in communities. This helps to build more sustainable and resilient cities in the face of climate challenges. Our goal is to create cool and biodiverse islands, where nature reclaims its rights in the heart of urban areas, thus improving the quality of life for city dwellers. These urban green spaces are essential for filtering pollutants, reducing noise, and providing a space for relaxation and connection with nature.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

The circular economy operation of our regenerative cooperative promotes responsible management of natural resources. By using every part of our trees for sustainable products, we minimize waste and encourage more responsible consumption.

Goal 13: Climate Action

Climate change is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges of our time, and SDG 13 calls for urgent action to address it. The exceptional ability of our plantations to absorb CO₂ makes them a powerful tool for carbon sequestration, thus helping to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.

Goal 15: Life on Land

Species diversity is essential to the health of our planet. It is an action that resonates well beyond our borders, contributing to the overall health of the Earth’s biosphere.

We work for the protection, restoration, and promotion of the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. By integrating local species into our plantations, we maintain biodiversity and promote soil regeneration through our diversified planting practices, thus aligning our practices with the goal of preserving life on land.

In conclusion

Our commitment to the SDGs is not just a simple exercise in compliance; it is a mission that drives us daily. We are convinced that the path to a green and prosperous future lies in concrete and measurable actions. Every tree planted, every hectare restored, and every green investment contributes to these global goals, marking our positive imprint on the planet and the future of humanity.
